Poem: Norse Folk

This challenge was to write a poem about music. At the time, I was listening to a lot of Scandinavian folk music while simultaneously digging into my Norwegian and Danish heritage.

“Norse Folk”

Acoustics, growls and screams
Give me strength and vivid dreams
A looking glass
At my relatives passed
My roots firmly planted, it seems

Hail Odin! Hail Thor!
Hail Freya! And more!
Relics of the old way
Still have so much to say
My doubts finally cast to the floor

There’s power in the sounds
There’s peace that astounds
Such a beautiful thing
Makes my heart want to sing
And gives tranquility that abounds
