Poem: We’re the Funniest

Katie is easy to scare.

I’m a 230-pound man and still can accidentally sneak up on her. It’s always kinda hilarious.

She has a much harder time getting back at me, but that doesn’t mean she can’t — or hasn’t.

Because she has. And it was every bit as funny as the times I’ve gotten her.

This poem’s prompt was “funny,” and there isn’t a funnier couple on the planet (in my humble opinion).

“We’re the Funniest”

Remember that time you scared me in the tub?
You were a sneaky sneak – and I was certain
There were no monsters behind the curtain
And prepared myself for a scrub

I reached in my hand to turn on the water
You stood behind the curtain, sheer and thin
And grabbed my wrist, I jumped out of my skin
And you laughed at such great fodder

I remember a time when I scared you, too
It was a sunny afternoon
I knew you’d be home soon
And I waited in my truck bed for you

You got home just as expected
The timing was right
And I gave you a fright
And in both of us, laughter infected
