Instead of getting real work done on Sunday afternoon, I decided it was time to work on this self portrait that I wanted for the Always Coming Soon website’s about page. Inspired by the watercolor set my lovely bought me Saturday, I started with a source photo of me standing before a Best Buy vending machine in an airport in Orlando, FL. After dropping it in Adobe Illustrator, I created a custom “inking” brush and formed what are now the black “strokes.” I tend to do fill work a little better in Photoshop, so I copied the strokes from Illustrator and utilized a set of watercolor brushes to fill in the spaces on a layer underneath the strokes. Finished with a splash of purple behind my head, a folded paper texture and Always Coming Soon’s new logo.

Very nice. I am intrigued by the choice to leave yourself faceless.
