Poem: Pietà

Earlier this year, I briefly participated in a poem-a-day exercise. Each day had a theme or challenge, the rest was up to you. The poems I’ll be sharing for #naBloPoMo are from that challenge.

Today’s poem is an ekphrastic poem about one of my favorite works of art: Michelangelo’s Pietà. Katie and I were fortunate enough to be able to see this in person while touring the Vatican last year.

Also, to harken back to the olden days of this very blog, it’s a haiku.

“Pietà”

A crying woman
A dead Savior in her arms
Peak marble beauty
