November 20th, 2008…A film by the name of Repo!  The Genetic Opera came out…”What’s it about?” you say?  I’ll explain…

People in the world are sick…Very, very sick…Dying, even…So sick, they’re dying.  They need help, but they need organs…Organs that they can’t afford…That is, until Rotti Largo comes into the picture with his company GeneCo…GeneCo brings on organ transplants with the option of a convenient payment plan.  Now folks are healthy and, with the easy access to affordable surgery, have become obsessed with self image.  Suddenly GeneCo is the biggest business on earth, fixing your face daily, body, total image on a daily basis if necessary.  The catch?  If you miss a payment, GeneCo sends out their repo man to repossess those organs that are rightfully theirs.  A small storyline involving GeneCo employee and repo man Nathan Wallace, his daughter Shilo and the heartbreaking story of their long lost wife/mother Marni, Shilo’s godmother Blind Mag and Rotti’s spoiled children Pavi Largo (played by Ogre), Luigi Largo (Bill Mosley) and Amber Sweet (Paris Hilton).  10 minutes into the film and I decided it was one of my favorite movies.  The story is great, the songs (it’s a musical) are fantastic, the soundtrack rocks super hard and it’s just enough “out there” to stay out of the main stream…That is until now…

April 2, 2010 will see the release of Universal Pictures’ “Repo Men”…I’ll copy and paste the synopsis from www.bloody-disgusting.com.

“In the futuristic action-thriller Repo Men, humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called The Union. The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you don’t pay your bill, The Union sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its property…with no concern for your comfort or survival.

Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company’s top-of-the-line heart-replacement…as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart’s no longer in the job. When he can’t make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy’s former partner Jake (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), to track him down.

Now that the hunter has become the hunted, Remy joins Beth (Alice Braga), another debtor who teaches him how to vanish from the system. And as he and Jake embark on a chase across a landscape populated by maniacal friends and foes, one man will become a reluctant champion for thousands on the run.”

Sounds like a rip off to me…Also, if you have time, check out the artwork for the film…Barcodes, rich company, beautiful leader, soviet-type font, a virtual shopping mall consisting of body parts and organs…Come on.  This may be a great movie, but I’ll never know.  Do yourself a favor and watch Repo!  The Genetic Opera and boycott this BS when it hits theaters.

Enjoy today’s haiku:

Ever been ripped off?
Repo!  Certainly has been…
People!?!?  TESTIFY!!!
