Here are some original goodies!

As many of you know, our new house is in the process of getting a studio built in the basement for my terrible music production.  I now have 2 more guitars added to the collection (I need names…I already have Leigh, Skiba, Ashe and Ada) and a trombone that I cannot play for beans yet.  Anyway, if you didn’t know already, I have two “acts” that I’ve put together, both are very different in style but they allow me to produce the two different types of music I want to create.

Kill The Ghoul!  Is heavily influenced by metal, punk, spoken word, noise and house.  Think of a weird combination of the Ramones, the Misfits, the Deftones, Cornbugs, Henry Rollins, Bryan Lewis Saunders, Mannequin Hollowcaust, Spider Mountain, Snot and Mindless Self Indulgence and you have what I call Kill the Ghoul!  Some examples can be heard at Kill the Ghoul!’s MySpace page.

Also, here is a cool graphic I built for the soon to be launched Kill the Ghoul website (click to enlarge):

Ashe5String is my other project.  A little more traditional and folk in sound, think of a combination of the Carter Family, Beck, Monsters of Folk, Caravan of Thieves, Antsy Pants, Ugly Kid Joe, The Black Crows and Toots and the Maytals and you have Ashe5String.  There are no real “examples” of the work yet as I haven’t gotten to record any of it in a quality fashion, but rest assured that I’ve been writing away lately.

Here’s the graphic I’m using for the Ashe5String website soon (click to enlarge):

And here’s the lyrics to a song I penned last night called “Spirit” about a prisoner in a dungeon where many have died before him, who has never lost his faith that God will take care of him:

Sitting On this cold stone
Waiting for my ride home
My time here’s come and gone
I wish they would have known

My world it keeps on changing
With nothing to call my own
The dead among the living
This is not my home
This isn’t home

Like many before me
I wouldn’t know my own face
But in a moment I’ll be lifted
From this unforgiving place

My world it keeps on changing
With nothing to call my own
The dead among the living
This is not my home
This isn’t home

I’m looking out at you
Accusers are all I see
the flames they rise before me
Spirit inside come to be
Spirit inside come to be

Enjoy today’s haiku:

Whoever it was
that said Zombies are now “out”
must have brain eaten*!
