Today’s reading / writing assignment deals with the Holy Spirit in one’s life. Referencing 1 Corinthians 2:9-16, specifically verse 12, the reading discusses the significance of having the Holy Spirit and what it means to speak through it and feel with it. Today’s journal entry was to write down one question that you want the Holy Spirit to Help you with. My response, hand written in that ratty, now old, black and white, wide-ruled composition book follows:

“The Bible talks about how even though we know we’re doing something wrong, we often do it anyway as a result of our sinful nature we were born with. This is actually a blessing because we wouldn’t know it was wrong had we not welcomed and received Christ into our lives.” The study portion of my Bible illustrates our lives in this manner: Think of your life as a door. Before Christ came into our lives, sin embedded itself into our lives in the form of nails being driven all through us, in different sizes and in different areas of our lives. When we welcomed Jesus into our lives in the form of the Holy Spirit, He took those nails out of us one by one. At this point, we’re still doors, only we have holes all in us now, holes only the Creator can fill, and He does. Sin still comes into our lives and because of our pre-Christ lives, we welcome them back into us, but again, they’re removed from us. We’re doors full of holes, and only Christ can repair them. The issue we now face is how those old nail holes are rarely filled because of our sinful nature.

“So what will it take to get my holes covered from the nails of sin removed by Christ’s love & God’s forgiveness? What is in my life that has made my heart hard to the point where my holes can’t be filled? In the meantime, praise the Lord for removing the nails of sin each time they are driven into me!”

“And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world’s spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”
1 Corinthians 2:12
