Today I got a report card type of email from WordPress describing what kind of year I had in my blog. They showed via graphical “scale” that my blog was doing “Wow!” and stated that I have received over 16,000 views. They also went so far as to remind me that “Chat Roulette Porn” was one of the most popular search terms that drove people to my blog. I could’ve gone forever without being reminded of that fact.
Before going into this week’s Church Boy blog, I want to go ahead and give a teaser for one of my new projects for 2011. ChurchBoyBlog.com. I’m working on it right now. I get a lot of ideas that I want to discuss that are Church Boy related and I will be doing some more in-depth bible study this year since my first year as a true Christ follower was spent getting a solid base in the word. That’s where the new blog will come into the picture. I’m also working on a possible co-creator. I hope to get this started in the month of February if not earlier. Until then, Appointment 9:
Temptation is an ugly thing. But we’re people of earth and ever since the days of Adam and Eve we’ve been subjected to temptation that we have a terribly hard time dealing with. Today’s assignment deals with a verse in 1 Corinthians that discusses how we can deal with temptation. My writing assignment today was to write down 3 areas temptation is a huge part of my life, my thoughts on them and a followup that thanks God for the ability to deal with the temptation accordingly. Once again, my response written in this killer notebook that I love so much:
“1.) Self Control – Porn on the internet is a biggie. It’s so easy to just search for something ‘just to see what results were returned.’ This is something I’ve struggled with fiercely but have prayed hard about and have triumphed over!
“2.) Pride – I hate pride but we all have it. It hates us, too, and that’s why it wants to attract us – so it can tear us down. I am frequently tempted by my pride to take the credit and glory for my advances and blessings, even though I know in my heart where it all comes from.
“3.) This World – I don’t want to be a part of this world. I can’t stand what it does to people and I strive to steer away from the influence of a world that hates me. Yet I am forever tempted to conform to it: To worry about my finances, to worry about my physical appearance and to fret over other meaningless, worldly things.
“GOD IS FAITHFUL! And I’m motivated by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who also suffered temptation – but overcame. Thanks to our Father – We can get through what’s in front of us!”
“But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
